Prenatal Development and Care
During pregnancy if the mother is stressing about the pregnancy or any other topic, this can have an affect on the child’s stress response mechanisms. If the stress and hormones are at high levels this can impact the child’s ability to control their emotions.
Social- Emotional Learning Strategies or Activities
Infancy - Educate caregivers about the importance of eye contact using soothing tones, and providing physical comfort. To help newborns manage their emotions.
Early childhood- Motivate caregivers to use storytelling as a way of teaching problem-solving, empathy and perspective-taking abilities.
Toddlerhood- Teach caregivers how to communicate their emotions in words and serve as an example of doing so. Help them in acknowledging their feelings of toddlers and provide opportunities for communication.
Infancy (0-1 year)
During the infancy period, babies are learning about the objects around them, they are learning how to control their muscles as well as making sounds.
Toddlerhood (1-2 years)
During the toddlerhood period the child is able to grasp and hold objects, have the ability to imitate sound and form simple sentences, as well as develop problem-solving skills.
Early childhood (3-8 years)
During the Early childhood period, children are more coordinate with what they are doing. They are learning more words as well as being able to start a conversation with others, with increased attention span and memory capacity.
